Welcome to the NIF Grantee Resource Page!
View the PDF of the Hebrew version of this page »

The purpose of this page is to provide you with:

  1. Documents that you and/or your funders may require – Section 1
  2. Answers to FAQs regarding the process of receiving grants – Section 2
  3. Clarifications on which NIF staff members to contact regarding different questions you may have – Section 3

We hope this page will serve as a helpful resource to you, and ask that you refer to it before contacting NIF to save your time and that of the NIF staff.

If you do need to contact the NIF staff, here is contact information. Please first read Section 3 (Who to ask for what at NIF?) so you know who to contact for each question/request.

HOW TO MAKE A DONOR-ADVISED GIFT THROUGH NIF

How can a donor make a donor-advised gift to my organization?
See NIF Instructions for Making a Donor-Advised Gift, which includes instructions for all countries in which NIF has representation: USA, Israel, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland [View PDF]

Can a donor make a credit card donor-advised gift to my organization?
Due to the expense entailed, NIF does not currently offer this option, aside from via the online donation portal (see below), which is currently limited to a small number of grantees.

Can a donor make an online donor-advised gift to my organization?
NIF has an online donation portal with a limited number of grantee organizations (mostly core grantees) for which we now accept donations online  (of up to $5,000 each). We are not currently adding organizations.

NIF INFORMATION FOR DONORS/FOUNDATIONS

What is NIF’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) / Federal Identification Number / Tax ID?

We are applying for a foundation grant and need a contact name and contact info at NIF. Whose name and what contact info should I provide?
Contact: Ariella Sidelsky, DAGifts@nif.org
Tel (US): (212) 613-4402
NIF mailing address: Please contact Sarah Temmer at stemmer@nif.org for NIF’s mailing address.

We are applying for a foundation grant and need to know who at NIF will sign the foundation documents.
Ariella Sidelsky, Deputy VP, Development Operations
Email: DAGifts@nif.org

My donor has requested a Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement
NIF is not a fiscal sponsor as defined in the US (see explanation here). You can submit your signed agreement with NIF as proof of your DA grantee status.

PROCESS AND TIMELINE FOR DA GIFTS

What is the process and timeline for Donor-Advised Gifts?
Donations arrive at NIF and are immediately deposited and processed. NIF then generates tax acknowledgement to donors. Each month, generally between the 20-25th of the month, NIF transfers donations from the previous month to the grantees (donations from January 1-31 are transferred February 20-25.) 1-3 days after the transfers, you receive emails with information on the gifts. Within 1-2 weeks after transfers, information on the donations is uploaded into Salesforce and becomes accessible to the grantees through the Salesforce portal. (If you do not currently have access to the Salesforce portal, please see information on accessing the portal in the “Who to ask for what at NIF” section.

Note that donations through NIF’s donor-advised fund, the Progressive Jewish Fund, are transferred within 48 hours of the donor’s request, and uploaded in Salesforce once a month.

Section 3: Who to ask for what at NIF?

Below is a list of different questions and which NIF staff member/s to refer them to.

Is my organization’s documentation up to date? Or: Did NIF receive the documentation we uploaded to the Salesforce portal?
Contact Michal Mashiach, michalm@nif.org.il

I would like access to the Salesforce portal to be able to get information on gifts to my organization and check on the status of my organization’s documentation.
Contact Michal Mashiach at michalm@nif.org.il, and include the name and email of the staff person at your organization who will be the contact person regarding the Salesforce portal.

I need help with the Salesforce portal (can’t log in, need new credentials, can’t find information, etc.).
Contact Michal Mashiach (contact info above)

My organization has a fundraising page on NIF U.S.’s donor-advised portal and we have a question about the portal.
Please contact Ariella Sidelsky, DAGifts@nif.org.

The foundation we are applying to for funding needs additional documents that are not on the Grantee Resource Page.
Please make sure the document/s is/are not on the page. If you cannot find them, email DAGifts@nif.org.

We are doing a crowdfunding campaign. Who do we contact at NIF?
Email DAGifts@nif.org and Sarah Temmer, stemmer@nif.org, with your request and all information.

Please note that the platform you use is responsible for (1) transferring proceeds to NIF (or if NIF must transfer the funds, you are responsible for notifying NIF once your campaign has ended), (2) providing NIF with clear and accurate information about donations (or we risk misattributing them to another cause), and (3) sending tax acknowledgements to the donor (as well as generating a duplicate acknowledgment if a donor requires one).

Please notify us well in advance of the campaign or you risk not being able to launch as planned.

Can you tell me if a donation has arrived from my donor?
Contact Sarah Temmer, stemmer@nif.org

Note: Please include full donor/foundation name (no acronyms please), location of donor/foundation, anticipated gift amount and expected date. (e.g. “The Jewish Community Foundation of Denver, Denver, CO”, or “David Cohen, Rochester, NY, $10,000, expected June 15, 202X”.)

We are anticipating a specific gift. Can someone notify us when it comes in?
We have no way of automating such requests, so cannot notify you when the gift arrives. You can contact us periodically to inquire.

We are anticipating a gift and want to make sure it is identified correctly as a gift for our organization.
If you have reason to believe the gift may not be identified correctly, email stemmer@nif.org with the full name of the donor / foundation, amount of the gift, anticipated gift date. Please do not tell donors to notify NIF of gifts, unless they are making a gift by wire/ACH or stock gift, in which case they should fill out the relevant online form.

Our donor says they didn’t receive an acknowledgment / tax letter for their gift.
Send the details (donor name, location, gift amount, estimated gift date) to stemmer@nif.org and NIF will generate a copy of the letter.

We received a gift but are missing details on the donor.
Contact stemmer@nif.org. Keep in mind that some donors are anonymous or do not provide their contact information.

Where do we send receipts for donations?
Michal Mashiach, michalm@nif.org.il
